Volume of notes that describe life and acquaintances around the Noatak River and Kotzebue Sound in northwestern Alaska, December 1901-February 1902. The journal also describes an ocean trip from Kotzebue Sound to Nome, Alaska, August 26-September 1905, to attend the trial of Charles R. Griggs for fraud related to the Treasure and Midas Creeks Gold Mining Association of Alaska. The volume includes twenty-two drawings of invidividuals and is accompanied by eight photographs and one drawing that depict Inupiat individuals, prospectors, dog sled teams, walruses, and a portrait of Pease.
